Devi Khadgamala Paath: Twenty One Days of Reciting the Names of the Goddess in Sri Chakra for 6 times

Khadgamala means garland of the sword.

It is one of the better names in the tradition, and it tells you what the stotra is meant to be. Not a prayer of request. Something closer to an act of arming yourself.

What the Khadgamala is

The Devi Khadgamala Stotra is a recitation of names. Specifically, it names the goddesses who reside in the Sri Chakra, the geometric form in which Lalita Tripurasundari is worshipped.

The Sri Chakra is not a picture of the Devi. It is understood as her structure, arranged in nine enclosures, each with its own presiding deities. The Khadgamala walks through those enclosures in order, naming each devi in her place. To recite it properly is to move through the whole of the Sri Chakra from the outermost enclosure to the centre, where Lalita herself is seated.

This is why the tradition treats the recitation as a form of worship in itself and not merely a hymn of praise. You are not describing the Devi. You are walking through her.

It is also why the stotra is held in such regard by those who follow the Sri Vidya tradition, where the Khadgamala is often the first substantial practice a student is given.

Why twenty one days

A single recitation is a complete act of worship, and many devotees do it daily.

Anushthana is different. When a recitation is undertaken as a formal observance, with a stated intention, repeated without a break for a fixed period, the tradition treats it as a different order of practice. The continuity is part of the offering. Twenty one days is one of the established periods for this stotra.

Performed this way, the paath is taken up with a sankalpa for a particular purpose rather than as ongoing devotional practice.

What it is taken up for

The traditional sources associate the Khadgamala anushthana with protection, prosperity, longevity and recognition.

Protection is the oldest association, and the name points at it. Protection from ill will, from the evil eye, from harm intended by others. It is also taken up for relief from shatru badha, difficulty caused by those working against you, and for apamrityu dosha nivaran, which concerns untimely and unnatural danger.

Prosperity and recognition come from the Sri Vidya association. Lalita Tripurasundari is worshipped as sovereign, and the recitation is taken up by people seeking standing, authority and the kind of regard that makes a person listened to rather than merely present.

A word about attraction

You will see the Khadgamala listed as a vashikaran pooja, including on our own product page, and the word deserves a straight explanation.

In this context attraction means grace, presence and favourable regard. Being well received. Being taken seriously. Having people inclined toward you rather than against you.

It does not mean control over another person’s will, and we will not describe it that way to make a sale. If what you are looking for is a ritual to make a specific person act against their own choosing, we are not the right people to ask, and we would gently suggest the situation needs something other than a ritual.

What the anushthana involves

A personal sankalpa is taken using your name and nakshatra, stating your intention. The opening worship establishes the setting, the Khadgamala is then recited daily for 6 times  across the full twenty one days, and a formal concluding worship closes the observance.

The recitation is done by our purohits in Bangalore. You do not need to be present and you do not need to recite anything yourself, though you are welcome to if you wish and we will tell you how.

You receive confirmation at the close, along with video, photographs and prasad.

Practical details

The twenty one day Devi Khadgamala Paath is Rs 40,000, inclusive of samagri, dakshina and courier of prasad. Payment is available in ten currencies and this is one of the rituals devotees abroad book most often.

We need your name, nakshatra, gotra, date and place of birth, and your intention. If you do not know your gotra, tell us when you book.

One honest note to close on. The benefits described here are the aims the tradition names, not outcomes we guarantee. We perform the anushthana properly, for the full period, in your name, and we show you that we did. What comes of it is between you and the Devi.
