If fear of what tomorrow holds, a lingering illness, or a run of setbacks that will not break has brought you here : a Rudrabhishek puja is one of the oldest and most complete Vedic remedies for exactly this. Every Monday, Poojas.in performs a full Rudrabhishek to Lord Shiva, chanting the complete Sri Rudram (Rudra Prashna and Chamaka Prashna) over a Shivling bathed in panchamrit, vibhooti and bel leaves, so devotees anywhere in the world can receive this puja in their own name. This is not a generic or group chanting : it is a dedicated, individual online Rudrabhishek performed exclusively for you.

Your sankalpa is taken individually in your full name, nakshatra, rashi and gotra, and the entire Shodashopachara : the sixteen-step traditional worship of Lord Shiva : is performed on your behalf alone. Rudrabhishek puja cost: Rs 13,000 per individual booking. Bookings available from India and abroad every Monday through the year, with Shraavan Somvar bookings carrying the highest auspiciousness.

The Vedic Basis

Why Rudrabhishek Puja Is Performed During Shraavan Maas

The Halahala Story, the Sri Rudram and the Shiv Rudrabhishek Mantra

According to the Puranas, when the devas and asuras churned the cosmic ocean of milk in search of amrita, a devastating poison called Halahala rose first and threatened to destroy all creation. Lord Shiva swallowed it to protect the three worlds, holding it in his throat, which turned blue and earned him the name Neelkanth. To cool his body and ease his suffering, the devas poured water and panchamrit over him without pause : and this happened during the month of Shraavan. Jalabhishek and Rudrabhishek performed on Shiva through this month are therefore considered the highest form of gratitude a devotee can offer him, and carry amplified grace precisely because of this origin.

The Sri Rudram: The Most Ancient Rudrabhishek Stotra

Namaste Rudra manyava, uto ta ishave namah.
Namaste astu dhanvane, bahubhyam uta te namah.

“Salutations to your fierce aspect, O Rudra; salutations to your arrow. Salutations to your bow, and to your two arms” : opening verse of the Namakam, Sri Rudram

The Rudrabhishek stotra chanted in this puja is the Sri Rudram, also called Rudra Prashna : found in the fourth chapter of the Taittiriya Samhita of the Krishna Yajurveda. It has two halves. The Namakam, named for its repeated use of “namah” (salutation), addresses Rudra through eleven anuvakas describing his fierce and gentle aspects simultaneously and is chanted to remove sin, fear, disease and all forms of affliction. The Chamakam, named for “cha me” meaning “and give me this,” follows immediately and is the half where the devotee petitions Rudra for everything needed: food, health, children, strength, long life and knowledge : laid out anuvaka by anuvaka. Together they hold the Panchakshari mantra, Om Namah Shivaya, as their living heart and are considered the core of the entire Yajurveda.

The two sections are never chanted separately in a Rudrabhishek. Namakam without Chamakam is praise without petition. Chamakam without Namakam is asking without first offering reverence. Only together do they constitute the complete Shiv Rudrabhishek mantra cycle as the tradition prescribes.

Shravan Somvar Vrat guidance: Devotees observing the Shraavan Somvar Vrat alongside this puja traditionally keep a satvik diet on Mondays, chant Om Namah Shivaya or the Maha Mrityunjaya Mantra on their own mala through the day, and avoid non-vegetarian food, alcohol, onion and garlic for the duration of the vrat. Our priests hold the ritual on your behalf; the vrat on your end deepens the connection.

Who This Rudrabhishek Puja Is For

Devotees book this Rudrabhishek for a range of reasons, but four situations come up again and again:

Observing Shravan Somvar from abroad or at a distance

Devotees who cannot reach a Shiva temple every Monday : whether abroad, held back by health, or bound by work : book this so the vrat is honoured in their full name and gotra without a single week missed.

Fear, ill health and repeated setbacks

The Sri Rudram is chanted specifically for protection from akaal mrityu bhaya : fear of untimely death : and is a prescribed remedy during prolonged illness, recurring health crises, and periods of misfortune that resist ordinary effort and other remedies.

Planetary doshas and difficult dasha periods

Families dealing with a challenging Shani dasha, Rahu dasha, or unexplained obstacles in career, health or relationships often add Rudrabhishek alongside their astrology consultation for Shiva’s direct grace.

Individual sankalpa in your own name and gotra

Anyone who wants a complete puja taken in their own full name, nakshatra, rashi and gotra : rather than a general or shared prayer : is exactly who this individual booking is designed for.
