Book Astrology Consulting (₹3,000)Sade Sati (literally "seven and a half" in Sanskrit) refers to the period when slow-moving Saturn transits three consecutive zodiac signs relative to your natal Moon Sign: the sign before it, the sign itself, and the sign after it. Since Saturn takes about 2.5 years to cross one sign, the full transit spans roughly 7.5 years. It repeats approximately once every 29.5 years, matching Saturn's full orbital cycle around the zodiac.
Sade Sati calculation compares two positions: your natal Moon Sign (fixed at birth) and Saturn's current transiting sign (the same for everyone on a given day). If Saturn is in the 12th, 1st, or 2nd house counted from your Moon Sign, you are in Sade Sati. Any other house position means you're outside this transit for now. This is why the calculation only needs your Moon Sign, not your full birth chart, though your Ascendant and house placements do affect how intensely the transit is felt.
Saturn transits the 12th house from your Moon Sign. Often felt as rising expenses, disturbed sleep, or a general sense of pressure building.
Saturn transits the same sign as your Moon Sign. Usually the most intense phase, affecting mental peace, relationships and major decisions most directly.
Saturn transits the 2nd house from your Moon Sign. Effects generally ease, often centred on family, finances and speech.
As of 2026, Saturn is transiting Meena Rashi (Pisces) in the Vedic sidereal zodiac. That means:
Saturn is expected to move into Mesha (Aries) permanently around February 2028, at which point Sade Sati shifts to Vrishabha (Taurus), Mesha (Aries) and Meena (Pisces) natives. Use the calculator above for your exact dates.
When Saturn transits the 4th house (Kantak Shani) or 8th house (Ashtama Shani) from your Moon Sign, it's considered a milder version of Sade Sati, sometimes called "Small Panoti." It can bring friction around health, finances or relationships, but is generally less intense and shorter-reaching in effect than the full Sade Sati transit.
In Vedic tradition, Sade Sati is approached through steady conduct, patience, and Shani-related remedial practices as prescribed after examining the full birth chart, since the same transit plays out very differently depending on your Ascendant, house lord placements and current planetary periods (Dasha). A calculator can tell you that you're in Sade Sati; a consultation is what tells you what it specifically means for your chart and what remedy, if any, is appropriate.
