Nadi Dosha Calculator: Check Nadi and Bhakoot for a Couple

Nadi Dosha is read in North Indian horoscope matching when both partners fall in the same Nadi, Adi, Madhya or Antya, which are decided by the birth nakshatra. Nadi carries 8 of the 36 points, the highest weight. This calculator shows each partner’s Nadi, whether it matches, and the Bhakoot check.

Enter both partners’ birth details. Only the Moon sign and nakshatra are used, so a birth time is needed only when the Moon changes nakshatra on the birth date. Everything is calculated in your browser and nothing is stored.

What does the Nadi Dosha calculator show?

The calculator shows each partner’s Moon sign and nakshatra, the Nadi each one belongs to, and whether the two Nadis are the same. It also checks the Bhakoot axis, counting the distance between the two Moon signs, and notes cases where classical texts reduce the dosha.

Nadi is the eighth koota of the Ashtakoota system and the one with the most points. Traditionally it is linked with the health and constitution of the couple and their children, which is why families look at it closely. Same Nadi is the problem case, and different Nadis are the favourable case.

How this nadi dosha calculator finds each Nadi

The 27 nakshatras are divided among three Nadis in a repeating zigzag: Adi, Madhya, Antya, Antya, Madhya, Adi and so on. Each partner’s nakshatra gives one Nadi. If both have the same one, Nadi Dosha is indicated, and if they differ it is not.

Texts also list exceptions, for example when the two partners share a Moon sign or a nakshatra. The calculator notes this when it applies. The Bhakoot check flags the 2/12, 5/9 and 6/8 sign axes, which are read as adverse in the 36-point method.

What does a same-Nadi result mean?

It means the matching tradition raises a flag and invites a closer look. It does not mean the marriage is unsuitable. Readers check for the exceptions, the strength of the other kootas, and the two charts as a whole before advising anything.

South Indian matching does not use Nadi in the same way. If your family follows Porutham, run the Porutham calculator as well and ask your priest which method applies.

Nadi Dosha Calculator: Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Nadi Dosha calculator?

A Nadi Dosha calculator compares the Nadi of two partners, which is decided by each person’s birth nakshatra. It reports whether the Nadis are the same, which is read as Nadi Dosha, and shows the Bhakoot check.

What is Nadi Dosha in kundli matching?

Nadi Dosha is indicated when the bride and groom belong to the same Nadi. Nadi has the highest weight, 8 points of 36, in the Ashtakoota system and is traditionally linked with the health of the couple and their children.

Is Nadi Dosha cancelled in some cases?

Classical texts list exceptions, such as the partners sharing a Moon sign with different nakshatras, or the same nakshatra with different Moon signs. A reader weighs these before advising anything.

What are the three Nadis?

They are Adi, Madhya and Antya. The 27 nakshatras are divided between them in a repeating zigzag order, nine nakshatras to each.

What is Bhakoot Dosha?

Bhakoot compares the distance between the two Moon signs. The 2/12, 5/9 and 6/8 axes are read as adverse, and others as favourable. It carries 7 points of 36.

Do I need the birth time for this check?

Only when the Moon changes nakshatra on a birth date. The calculator checks and asks for the time if it matters.
